2. What Is a PVC Stabilizer and Why Does It Matter?

PVC resin on its own degrades under heat and shear. Without a stabilizer, melt processing causes:

Rapid discoloration (yellow/brown/black)

Loss of mechanical strength

Poor fusion and plate-out on the die

PVC stabilizers:

Protect PVC during extrusion, calendering, injection and foaming

Maintain color, transparency and gloss

Support long-term performance in outdoor, hot and high-load conditions

Today, stabilizer choice is also a regulatory and branding decision. Global brands prefer solutions that are:

Lead-free, Ba/Cd-free

Low VOC / low odor

Supported by RoHS / REACH and, where needed, food-contact documentation

3. WANSYN Stabilizer Families

3.1 Powdered Ca-Zn Stabilizer Series

WANSYN powdered Ca-Zn stabilizers are one-pack, lead-free systems designed for both rigid and flexible PVC. They combine calcium and zinc soaps with tailored lubricants and co-stabilizers to deliver:

Strong thermal stability and long-term color hold

Balanced internal / external lubrication for smooth extrusion

No plate-out or blooming when properly matched to the formulation

Compliance-oriented formulations for RoHS, REACH and major export markets

They are available as application-specific grades, described in Section 4.

3.2 Liquid Methyl Tin Stabilizer Series

WANSYN liquid methyl tin stabilizers are high-efficiency heat stabilizers for rigid transparent PVC. They are widely used in:

Rigid clear sheets & films (calendered and extruded)

Transparent profiles and bottles

SPC / LVT flooring wear layers and transparent overlays

Key characteristics:

Excellent initial color and clarity

Wide processing window at higher temperatures

Low dosage vs many non-tin systems

Can be used alone or as a booster together with Ca-Zn systems to improve initial color and stability.

4. Application-Focused Grades in the Ca-Zn Powder Series

This section maps your typical PVC applications to specific WANSYN Ca-Zn grades, as shown across your product center.

Typical uses: rigid packaging sheet, profiles, certain pipe grades as a general-purpose rigid stabilizer.

4.2 Tin-Replacement Rigid PVC – Y-550

Lead-Free PVC Powder Stabilizer Y-550 — For Calendered Sheet/Film, Extrusion & Blown Film

Designed to replace 30–60% of traditional methyl tin systems in rigid PVC

Works across calendered sheet/film, extrusion and blown film

Strong heat stability, low odor, clean processing without plate-out

RoHS-oriented formulation

Typical uses: rigid film & sheet for packaging, rigid profiles, high-clarity but non-ultra-clear applications where some tin replacement is desired.

4.3 Super-Clear Flexible Films & Sheets – CT-103

Lead-Free PVC Stabilizer CT-103 — For Super-Clear Flexible Films & Sheets

Powder Ca-Zn stabilizer focused on ultra-clear flexible PVC

Very low odor, strong initial and long-term heat stability

Anti-plate-out, smooth calendering, print-friendly surface

Typical uses: crystal-clear soft films and sheets, “soft glass” sheets, clear covers, stationery films, display sleeves.

4.4 Transparent Semi-Rigid & Flexible PVC – N-450

Lead-Free PVC Powder Stabilizer N-450 — For Transparent Semi-Rigid & Flexible Sheets/Films

Next-generation Ca-Zn stabilizer for high-clarity semi-rigid and flexible PVC

Designed to replace organotin systems with no heavy-metal residues

Ultra-clear transparency, clean die lips, low/odorless processing

Typical uses: semi-rigid packaging sheet, flexible clear films, hoses, sleeves and blown films.

4.5 Soft Opaque Films & Synthetic Leather – FR-300

PVC Powder Stabilizer FR-300 — For Soft, Opaque/White Films, Leather & Blown Film

Ca-Zn stabilizer for soft, opaque and white PVC

Optimized for blown film, calendared film and synthetic leather

Good color hold, stable foaming (where applicable) and clean processing

Typical uses: soft white films, advertising tarpaulins, leather & shoe materials, opaque blown films.

4.6 Printing-Grade Edge Banding – FB-100

PVC Powder Stabilizer FB-100 — Printing-Grade Edge Banding (Furniture)

Clean melting and welding for strong joints and good pressure rating

Good dispersion and flow reduce die deposits and screw wear

Typical uses: pressure and drainage pipes, conduit, fittings for water and electrical systems.

5. When to Choose Ca-Zn vs Methyl Tin vs Hybrid

Use Ca-Zn powder stabilizers when:

You need lead-free, Ba/Cd-free systems for rigid or flexible PVC

Applications include SPC/LVT flooring cores, profiles, pipes, cables, opaque films, soft leather and edge banding

You want a single one-pack stabilizer with built-in lubrication tailored to your line

Use liquid methyl tin stabilizer when:

Target is rigid transparent PVC with very high clarity and gloss

You run high-temperature, high-speed lines for clear sheet/film, bottles, profiles or SPC wear layers

You need strong heat stability in tropical climates and multi-pass processing

Use a hybrid Ca-Zn + methyl tin system when:

You want to keep most of the performance of methyl tin while lowering tin dosage and total cost

Products require high clarity but not absolute “water-clear” performance

You are in transition from organotin to eco-friendlier systems and need a stepwise change.

6. How WANSYN Supports Your PVC Projects

Beyond supplying stabilizers, WANSYN provides:

Formula design & optimization – matching stabilizer grade, phr and lubrication to your specific resin, filler and equipment

Free laboratory testing (by agreement) – torque rheometer curves, Congo red, oven aging, color / YI, transparency and plate-out evaluation

On-line technical support – start-up guidance and troubleshooting for warpage, yellowing, plate-out, fusion issues and VOC reduction

Export documentation – TDS, MSDS and RoHS / REACH support aligned with your target markets

Because WANSYN also produces functional PET/PS/PP sheets & rolls, we understand converters’ needs from additives to finished packaging – which helps us design stabilizer systems that work on real production lines, not just in the lab.

7. FAQ – PVC Stabilizers with WANSYN

Q1. Can WANSYN Ca-Zn stabilizers fully replace lead systems?
In most profile, pipe and board applications, yes—provided the formulation and lubrication are optimized. Several WANSYN Ca-Zn grades are specifically designed for this transition and are supported by technical guides on switching from lead to Ca-Zn without plate-out.

Q2. Which grade should I use for SPC rigid core flooring?
For SPC core layers, we normally recommend a high-filler Ca-Zn stabilizer package (Y-series or custom grade). For transparent wear layers, use a methyl tin or hybrid Ca-Zn + tin system, depending on clarity and cost targets.

Q3. What if I produce both clear films and opaque flooring on the same line?
We can help you define two matched stabilizer packages (e.g., CT-103 / N-450 for clear, FR-300 or a flooring-specific grade for opaque) with similar processing torque so that changeovers are easier.

Q4. Do you support customers in Southeast Asia and the Middle East?
Yes. Our stabilizers are already used in Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Bangladesh and other Asian markets, with formulations tuned for local resin and processing conditions. We can also support Middle-East customers via remote testing and samples.
